Gulf Society for Maintenance and Reliability elects new Board and outlines strategic priorities for growth
The Gulf Society for Maintenance and Reliability (GSMR) convened its General Assembly on Saturday, 19 September 2026, at the InterContinental Bahrain in Manama.
Members approved the agenda before reviewing the Board of Directors’ report for the concluded term, including the key programs and initiatives delivered during the period. The General Assembly also discussed the Society’s financial report.
GSMR honored several active members for their contributions to the Society’s activities and progress, highlighting the important role members play in advancing its objectives.
An Elections Committee was appointed to oversee the process, after which General Assembly members elected the Society’s Board of Directors for the 2026-2028 term in accordance with the approved procedures and regulations.
The newly elected Board of Directors for the 2026-2028 term comprises:

2. Mahmood Mirza - Vice-Chair
3. Fatma AlKaabi - Secretary
4. Nader Milibari - Treasurer
5. Mahmood Dashti - Vice-Treasurer
6. Bader Al Jazzaf - Board Member
7. Fadhel AlHashem - Board Member
A new phase of strategic growth
The new Board begins its term at a pivotal stage for GSMR, with a portfolio of strategic projects designed to strengthen the Society’s presence and extend its reach across the Gulf region and internationally.
Among its key priorities is the launch and accreditation of GSMR’s Maintenance and Asset Reliability Certificate (MARC) program. The initiative will strengthen the Society’s role in developing professional capabilities and advancing standards for accreditation and specialization in maintenance, reliability and asset management.
The Board will also oversee preparations for the 8th International Maintenance, Reliability & Asset Management Conference (MAINTCON 2027), to be held from 27 to 30 September 2027 at Exhibition World Bahrain (EWB). The conference is expected to convene institutions, companies, government entities, experts and specialists from around the world to explore the latest developments and leading global practices in maintenance, reliability, asset management and sustainability.
The new Board will place particular emphasis on engaging young men and women across the GCC by expanding their participation in projects and initiatives led by the Global Forum on Maintenance & Asset Management (GFMAM). These opportunities will enable emerging Gulf talent to help develop and manage global programs in maintenance, reliability, asset management and sustainability, cultivating the next generation of specialists and leaders in these fields.
GSMR stated that the election marks an important milestone in the Society’s development and reflects its commitment to sound governance, transparency and meaningful member participation in shaping its future direction.
The Society reaffirmed its commitment to advancing maintenance, reliability and asset management practices, promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and building regional and international partnerships. Through these efforts, GSMR aims to support professionals and organizations while strengthening the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a regional hub for professional knowledge and expertise.
