Exam Retake Policy

EXAM RETAKE POLICY

GSMR is committed to ensuring a fair and transparent retake process for certification candidates who do not meet the passing score in their initial exam attempt. Candidates who fail to achieve the required passing score on their GSMR certification examination are permitted to retake the exam under the following conditions:

1. Retake Eligibility

  • Candidates must wait a minimum of six (6) months from the date of their last failed exam attempt before reapplying to retake the certification examination.
  • Candidates are encouraged to engage in additional study, training, or preparation before attempting a retake.

2. Retake Application Process

  • Candidates must submit a new exam retake application to the Certification Administrator.
  • Retake applications must include updated contact information and any supporting documentation if requested.
  • A retake fee applies to each additional attempt and must be paid in full prior to exam scheduling.

3. Retake Exam Conditions

  • The retake exam will cover the same GSMR Body of Knowledge (BoK) and will have the same structure and level of difficulty as the original exam.
  • All examination rules, including identification, security, and proctoring procedures, remain applicable.
  • Questions may differ from the previous exam but will be of equivalent scope and difficulty.

4. Waiting Period

  • A minimum waiting period of 30 calendar days is required before a retake can be scheduled.
  • This period is designed to allow time for additional study or preparation.

5. Number of Retake Attempts

  • Candidates are permitted a maximum of three (3) exam attempts within a 12-month period from the date of the first examination.
  • After three unsuccessful attempts, candidates must wait 6 months and demonstrate evidence of further training or study before reapplying.

6. Rescheduling or Cancellation

  • Candidates may reschedule a retake with at least 7 business day’s notice.
  • Cancellations with less notice may result in forfeiture of the retake fee, except in cases of documented emergencies.

7. Appeals

  • If a candidate believes the exam was not administered in accordance with GSMR policies or if there were extenuating circumstances, they may file an appeal.
  • Appeals must be submitted in writing within 10 business days of receiving the exam result.

8. Confidentiality

  • All exam scores and retake records are treated as confidential in accordance with GSMR’s confidentiality policies.

9. Additional Study

  • GSMR encourages candidates who are unsuccessful in the examination to seek additional preparation, whether through self-study, mentoring, or attending GSMR-approved workshops or courses, though no specific additional training is mandated by GSMR.
