RECERTIFICATION & CPD

RECERTIFICATION & CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD)

At GSMR, we recognize that professional competence must be maintained and enhanced after initial certification. Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a core requirement for maintaining GSMR certifications, ensuring certified individuals remain current in knowledge, skills, and professional practice. To maintain certification and uphold industry standards, all GSMR-certified professionals are required to engage in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities throughout their certification cycle.

What is CPD?

Continuing Professional Development refers to the process of tracking and documenting the skills, knowledge, and experience gained both formally and informally, beyond initial certification.

CPD ensures that certified individuals:
  • Stay current with evolving industry practices
  • Maintain and improve their technical competence
  • Uphold the integrity and credibility of GSMR certifications

Why CPD matters?

  • Supports professional growth and lifelong learning
  • Maintains the credibility and relevance of GSMR-certified professionals
  • Upholds international certification standards (ISO/IEC 17024:2012)

CPD Requirements

  • Complete a minimum of 75 CPD hours over a three-year certification cycle.
  • CPD activities must relate to the domains outlined in the GSMR Body of Knowledge (BoK).
  • CPD activities may include:
    • Professional training courses or workshops
    • Attendance at conferences or technical seminars
    • Publishing articles, white papers, or case studies
    • Active participation in professional committees
    • Formal academic education

Certified individuals who fail to meet CPD requirements by their certification expiration date (plus a 90-day grace period) must retake the certification exam to maintain certified status.
